Will a session be cancelled if it rains? This is probably THE most frequently asked question! You're wearing a warm wetsuit, you've probably fallen off half a dozen times whilst learning to balance. . . and you can't get any wetter than soaking!
Surprisingly, most people say that surfing or paddleboarding in the rain makes the sea feel warmer.
Do we need to book in advance? Usually, yes. . . . but if you see the Splash! Wales van or trailer on the beach (see the photo below), just walk up and say hello. If there are spaces available, you'll be welcome to join in!
Is there a minimum height requirement? The only time height becomes a factor is when fitting for a wetsuit. Splash! carries wetsuits to fit youngsters of 4' 6" or above. . . and adults up to 6' 3".
How many people can participate? For surfing or bodyboarding a safety limit of 10 participants per instructor is applied, reducing to six per guide for paddleboading.
Can I use my own board for lessons? Yes of course. If you have brought your own equipment you are quite free to use it. . . so long as it meets Splash! safety standards. It often helps to be familiar with your own surfboard, boogie board or paddleboard.

Is there somewhere safe to leave valuables? Although Splash! always suggest that you don't bring anything to the beach that you don't want to lose in the sand, there is a lockable chest in the van for your valuables.
What do I need to bring to the beach? Apart from your swimming togs and a towel, a pair of old trainers or 'Crocs' are perfect, and a waterproof jacket is really useful to pop on over your wet suit when you are out of the water. Also, remember to bring any medications you may need!
Is there a lower age limit? For bodyboarding and surfing, the minimum age is 8 years. . . or 12 for paddleboarding. For private, family, lessons, these lower limits may varied by agreement. The upper age limit is 95 (or 100 if accompanied by both parents!) ;o)
Are you insured? Yes. Splash! Wales carries the legally required Public Liability insurance of £5 million.
Can we paddleboard in bare feet? Yes. Paddleboards have a high grip upper surface. The reason that Splash! recommends footwear is for protection whilst launching or walking through the shallows.
Will my own shorty wetsuit be OK? Any wetsuit will help you to stay warm, but a shorty is really designed for use in water of 15°C or above, so would be most appropriate during the summer months. Take a look at the sea temperature chart in the Beach Guide.

How can we pay? The preferred method is by bank transfer (BACS) or Debit / Credit card in advance. Although Splash! Wales can offer card payment facilities on the beach, this is subject to the availability of a mobile signal, which can be problematic in more remote locations. . but cash is always accepted!
Is a deposit required? For group bookings of four or more people, a non-refundable deposit of £100 is required to reserve a session.
How can we cancel? You can cancel a session, for any reason, without penalty. . . so long as you give Splash! 7 days notice. For cancellations within a week of the booked date, any non-refundable deposit will be forfeit.
Can I change a booked time or date? Because demand is so great, especially during the high season, it may not be possible to re-book at a convenient time, in which case you would need to cancel. . . see the answer above.
Can a session be cancelled due to weather? If, in the sole opinion of your instructor or guide, the wind or sea conditions pose a risk to safety, Splash! Wales will offer you an alternative date, a different activity, or a full refund.
As has already been pointed out, rain is irrelevant in a wetsuit and therefore NOT a cause for cancellation!

What if there are no waves for surfing? If you have booked a surf experience, but the sea isn't playing ball, Splash! Wales will offer an alternative, flat water, activity such as paddleboarding on the Cleddau River. . . or a full refund.
Can a refund be made in cash? Only if you originally paid in cash. However, if Splash! Wales has insufficient cash at hand on the beach, you may have to wait until later in the day. If you paid by credit or debit card, any refund will be made back to the card you used.
Do I need to be able to swim? For safety, all participants must be able to swim 25 metres, without flotation aids.
What if a venue changes? Because wind and weather are unpredictable, you must call Splash! Wales after 8:30 on the morning of your booking, just in case there is a change of location.
Is my data secure? Yes, of course! In accordance with GDPR, Splash! Wales will never sell or provide any third party with your personally identifiable information.
